The Route Path:
VA-249 starts at an intersection with US 60 and VA-33 in Bottoms Bridge. VA-249 goes north with VA-33, until an interchange with I-64 just after. At the interchange, VA-33 leaves VA-249, and goes on a concurrency with I-64. The route continues to the northeast, passing through a small business area, dropping to 2 lanes.
After going through the business area, VA-249 goes east through some rural areas, before entering the community of Quinton. In Quinton, the route has passes by some more businesses, having a roundabout with SR-612. Just after leaving the community, VA-249 goes back into some rural, wooded areas.
After passing through part of rural New Kent County, the route has a roundabout at the southern end of SR-609, and the northern end of VA-106. After the roundabout, VA-249 continues east through more rural areas, before meeting the southern end of SR-608, and VA-155 in the community of Carps Corner.
Shortly after leaving the intersection, the route enters the community of New Kent, the county seat of New Kent County. VA-249 goes through New Kent, having an intersection with SR-605. After leaving the community, the route continues east through more of rural New Kent County, before eventually reaching its eastern end at an intersection with VA-30 and VA-33, where VA-30 splits from VA-33.
Experiences:
I have only been on VA-249 on its short concurrency with VA-33, and the portion from Quinton to New Kent. The first time I was on VA-249 was in the middle of July 2022, and the most recent time on the route was in late August 2022.
