The Route Path:
VA-22 begins at US 250 in Shadwell, just 4 miles east of Charlottesville. The route heads northeast and goes under I-64, and passes by Keswick shortly after. After going by Keswick, VA-22 continues through rural eastern Albemarle County, before reaching Cismont. At Cismont, the route meets the southern end of VA-231. VA-22 takes a right and heads eastward.
After leaving Cismont, the route starts going through wooded lands as it eventually enters Louisa County. VA-22 stays through the wooded areas until it reaches Boswell’s Tavern, where the route meets US 15, and continues east.

After leaving US 15, VA-22 enters the Green Springs National Historic Landmark District. The route continues to pass through rural areas, and eventually reaches US 33 in Trevilians. VA-22 continues eastward concurrent with US 33.

After just over 4 miles, VA-22 and US 33 reach Louisa. The routes go concurrently through the downtown, and meet VA-208, which goes on a concurrency with the two routes. Shortly after, US 33 splits from the concurrency. VA-22 and VA-208 continue east toward Mineral. Both routes pass by the Louisa County Airport, and run parallel to some tracks.
Shortly after, the routes reach Mineral, and immediately reach US 522. VA-208 goes east on a concurrency with North US 522, and VA-22 ends at this intersection.
My Experiences:
I have been on VA-22 numerous times. The parts I've been on are from US 250 to around SR-615, and on the US 33 concurrency. My most recent trip to involve the route was on November 27, 2022, on the US 33 concurrency.
