The Route Path:

VA-253 starts at an intersection with US 11 in the City of Harrisonburg. The route heads south-southeast, before having a diamond interchange with I-81. After the interchange, VA-253 continues southeast, going up a hill before an intersection with Devon Lane, and heads back downhill.

The route has an intersection with Neff Avenue, before passing by some neighborhoods, and gaining a median as it leaves Harrisonburg and enters Rockingham County. Shortly after, VA-253 has an intersection with VA-280, and is still continuing southeast. After an intersection with the west end of a concurrency with SR-704, the route gets rid of the median and shrinks to a 2 lane divided highway.

Shortly after that, VA-253 meets the east end of the SR-704 concurrency, and continues south, having an intersection with SR-689, before curving east after a while. After curving east, the route has an intersection with VA-276, and curves back south. VA-253 passes through rural areas with an amazing view of the Blue Ridge Mountains, before curving south-southeast at an intersection with SR-679.

The route still continues through some nice rural areas, before eventually having an intersection with a very short VA-331. After the intersection, the route curves a couple times, and crosses the North River. After crossing the river, VA-253 passes through the CDP of Port Republic, curving southeast for a short while, before reaching its east end at US 340.

My Experiences:

I might have been on VA-253. If I have, the most recent time I was on it was back in 2022.
