The Route Path:
VA-252 begins at an intersection in the City of Staunton with US 11, US 250, and VA-254. The route heads southwest as Middlebrook Avenue, passing by the West End district of the city. Eventually, VA-252 reaches an interchange with VA-262, which is a bypass of Staunton. The route leaves the city here, and enters Augusta County as it begins to pass through rural areas outside of the city.
VA-252 also passes by numerous fields and occasional buildings as it travels southwest, eventually heading through the community of Arbor Hill. After that, the route continues to head southwest through more farmland and hilly terrain, making itself a pretty scenic route. As it slowly approaches the community of Middlebrook, VA-252 still continues to pass through farmland as the mountain ranges a few miles to the west start becoming visible.
Upon entering Middlebrook, the route loses its lane markings, appearing as a secondary route in the community. VA-252 passes by many buildings, mostly homes, with some businesses, before intersecting SR-670 in the center of the town. As it leaves the community, headed west, the road regains its yellow center markings, curving its way out of Middlebrook.
Just southwest of the town, the route starts going through farmland and fields again, with a scenic view of the mountains visible again. This continues as VA-252 starts curving as it continues making its way southwest, now with some woods around it. Over 4 miles later, the route reaches the community of Newport, where it reaches an intersection with SR-681. After this, VA-252 leaves the community and starts heading through some more wooded areas.
Eventually, the route crosses into Rockbridge County, as it starts getting windier before having an intersection with SR-606, which heads east to I-64 and I-81 at Raphine. VA-252 continues southwest for slightly over a mile before reaching the community of Brownsburg. The route heads straight through the town before curving towards the south upon leaving.
However, the route quickly regains its southwest direction as it once again starts passing through fields and rural farmland. VA-252 passes by the side of a hill shortly after, eventually intersecting SR-712 and picking its usual farmland back up. Eventually after that, the route heading into some more wooded terrain, passing by some houses before making a turn to the south, and just after that, the route reaches its southern end at an intersection with VA-39 just north of the Maury River.
My Experiences:
I have never been on VA-252 as far as I'm aware of. I have passed over it however on VA-262.
