February 1, 2025 - Next Era Blog Update

Welcome to February, the month of LOVE. That fancy, bold, italic, uppercased word will be a major theme for this month, and you will see exactly why in some sections below. Outside of LOVE, there is more important news for the website in this post, which explains the reason I've given a different name for this edition of the Hunty Roads Monthly Blog.

It is a new era for Hunty Roads, the transformation into a blog-style, road-informative travel/trip guide website has just gotten a huge step forward. Many things have been updated, changed, added, or removed, and this Monthly Post explains it all.

This month will be a huge step forward for Hunty Roads, so buckle in and ride on.

New Blog Posts:

Starting now, the Monthly Blog Posts will not be the only blog posts on Hunty Roads. I will be using the "Posts" part of the website to create blog posts, whether that be about roads, signs, towns, cities, counties, views, or anything else related to travel, there will now be guides, tips, information, experiences, rankings and more in the form of true blog posts here alongside Route Posts.

Speaking of Route Posts, the first major update to the structure since the "My Experiences" section was added in Spring of 2023 will be arriving on some of the Route Posts. This will fit in with the new blog-like additions to the website that come with the new month. It isn't guaranteed that this will stay permanently, as this is just testing to see how I can make Hunty Roads more welcoming to more than just people that are interested in getting information about Virginia's roads and information about my personal travels.

Back on the topic of new content and new posts, I'll also be publishing travel and trip guides to the website, highlighting many trips and trip routes that are worthy of being travelled in Virginia. This means that something has happened to the current Road Trips page, which is detailed in a section below.

With the new blog posts will also come the dissolving of the "Special" page on the website, which will involve converting the sole mini post on that page into a true blog post that will re-release at some point in February. All the remaining topics listed are qualified to eventually likely become posts in the future too.

Also, I have a temporary test release schedule planned out for all of these blog posts, with one releasing every Saturday, with Friday being an optional secondary release date if I'm feeling productive. The schedule will change at the beginning of March with the number of releases per week/month changing depending on how stressed/overworked/busy I feel after February. Speaking of February...

Hunty Roads LOVE:

As I said above, February is the month of LOVE. With this, I have decided to go all out on promoting that big word, which as a travel lover, road-geek, and a road trip enjoyer, there is no better way to promote LOVE than to center the blog posts for the month around the 300+ wonderful, creative LOVEworks signs scattered around the Commonwealth of Virginia.

In fact, my first road trip of 2025 will be dedicated to seeing some of the best of these signs. In January, I went on the official webpage for LOVEworks and I looked at the profile of every single one of those signs in the state and ranked them. Out of exactly 300 signs that I saw pictures of on there, the best ones are... going to be revealed in a blog post on Valentine's Day (Feb. 14).

And I'm not stopping at rankings, trip planning, or bucket list making. I went ahead and created a custom LOVE sign logo for Hunty Roads, made from scratch using the Hunty Roads logo:

The Hunty Roads "LOVE" logo.

The L and the E remain the same as how they would normally be seen at a Welcome Center.

However, the O is now a Virginia Primary Route shield, with the VA from the Hunty Roads logo placed inside the symbol.

The V is made from the two solid blue lines that hold the site logo together.

Throughout February, I will attempt to visit a good amount of LOVEworks signs in Virginia, no matter their spot on my ranking. Stick with me as I spread the LOVE all over Hunty Roads.

Hunty's Travels:

The Road Trips page that has existed since August 2023 has officially become its own separate blog, which is a needed change to make Hunty Roads less cluttered, congested, and easier to navigate.

The pages for my personal road trips will be turned into posts on that new blog, which is styled very similar to this website, and some extra content will be made for that new personal-travels blog. I will be re-releasing the pages for my trips throughout the month over there and will finally start putting out new Road Trip posts on the new blog.

This means there is a decent chance that the Monthly Trip % section seen in these Monthly Blog Posts gets relocated as a permanent page on that website.

Also, the link for that new blog is: huntystravels.blogspot.com

Other Site Updates:

Outside of totally new content, parts of Hunty Roads have been or will be updated during the month of February. First, the 'Random Routes' feature has sadly been removed to reduce clutter on the right sidebar. The 'Featured Trips' feature will be updated to instead feature trip routes from the guides.

There will also be more post tags, as there are more posts than just Route Posts. These will include 'Road Trips', 'Information' (New name for the mini posts on the old Special Page and similar posts), 'Travel Tips', plus more also in the future.

Saving Secondaries for Later:

With all this new content coming to Hunty Roads, I've decided to put away the Secondary Route list for the time being. The sole Secondary Route page will survive, though it won't be easy to access. I decided to do this for multiple reasons, one being that I've barely done anything there since I created it (I haven't created a new page since Christmas Eve), and the second reason being that the quality of those pages/posts is not to the quality that I would like. The third and final reason is that the site will be way too cluttered with the new content, plus the already existing content, even excluding the other stuff that's been removed.

Posts/Pages of January 2025:

The first month of 2025 has been more of a planning and preparation month for Hunty Roads than any month since October of 2023. Don't worry, that doesn't mean I didn't put out any new content on the site this month, it just means the next few months will be active and content packed.

The list of new posts/pages is below:

Hunty's Travel Chances:

Also known previously as my Yearly + Monthly Trip %. I gave it a rename so nobody confuses this section with the upcoming Travel/Trip guide blog posts. This section still has the same 3 lists, obviously with some changes as we're now 1 month down, 11 to go this year.

Next Post & Sendoff:

I will continue with the trend of announcing things in next month's post, as I already have plans for something for the website that will likely get implemented this month. The "Monthly Travels" section may come back, either here or on the new Hunty's Travels Blog.

Now for the continued fun fact to end the post: US 360 is the only US Route that ends at a Virginia Secondary Route (SR-644 in Northumberland County).
