Virginia State Route 28 is a road that goes from VA-7 north of Sterling, to US 15/29 north of Remington. It is a major route north of I-66.

The Route Path:
VA-28 starts at VA-7 north of Sterling. The route heads south, before an interchange with Gloucester Parkway/Nokes Boulevard. The freeway continues south, having an interchange with SR-625 in Sterling, followed by an interchange with SR-846 and SR-606, before meeting VA-267 and the Dulles Access Road just to the east of Dulles International Airport.
The route continues south of the interchange, passing by the airport and has a trumpet interchange with SR-608, followed by a cloverleaf interchange with Air and Space Museum Parkway. The route turns to the southwest, having an interchange with US 50 in Chantilly.
After the US 50 interchange, VA-28 has interchanges with Willard Road and Westfields Boulevard. The freeway turns to the southeast, before an interchange with SR-620, and I-66. VA-28 has an interchange with US 29, before losing freeway status at an intersection with SR-898.
The route heads southwest out of Centreville, before crossing Bull Run, and entering Prince William County. VA-28 passes through the CDP of Yorkshire, before passing through a tiny part of the City of Manassas Park. In the city, the route intersects VA-213. VA-28 enters the City of Manassas just south of the intersection.
VA-28 passes through Downtown Manassas as a 4 lane split street, with the 4 lanes reuniting on each end of the downtown. The route continues west out of Manassas, having an interchange with VA-234 right before leaving city limits, and re-entering Prince William County.
The route continues southwest, passing through Bristow, before an intersection with VA-215. VA-28 goes southwest, through Nokesville, before becoming a 2 lane undivided highway. The rural route continues southwest, before entering Fauquier County just west of Lehigh Portland Park.
VA-28 goes through Catlett, and part of rural Fauquier County, before intersecting US 17 in Bealeton. VA-28 continues west of Bealeton, before meeting its southern terminus at US 15 and US 29 north of Remington.
