The Route Path:
VA-229 starts at an intersection with US 211 in northern Culpeper County. The route heads south, passing by the South Wales Golf Course and the community of Jeffersonton, as it goes through rolling hills. After a long straight stretch, VA-229 passes over the Hazel River and the Duncan Run. Shortly after, the route intersects SR-640 in the community of Rixeyville.
From Rixeyville, VA-229 continues south through more rolling hills in Culpeper County. The route crosses the Muddy Run, and not long after, the route intersects SR-685 in the community of Catalpa. After the intersection, VA-229 widens to 4 lanes, as it approaches the town of Culpeper.
The route has an intersection with SR-694, before entering the Culpeper town limits. VA-229 goes south through the northern part of the town as Main Street, before ending at a roundabout with Business US 15 and Business US 29 just north of Downtown Culpeper.
My Experiences:
I have been on VA-229 multiple times, most of them were years ago. The most recent time I was on the route was on October 13, 2023, when I used it as an alternate route to go from Western Culpeper County to Warrenton. I believe I have clinched the route, as long as I have been on the part between SR-694 and the southern end years ago.
