VA-195 Shield

The Route Path:

VA-195 starts at the interchange where I-195 and VA-146 merge in Richmond's Carytown District. Right after beginning, the route passes by on-ramps from VA-161 (South Boulevard), and heads southeast past Byrd Park. Eventually, VA-195 reaches the Downtown Toll Plaza and has a half-exit with Idlewood Avenue and Cumberland Street.

The route curves east then southeast, before having an exit for Canal Street and Byrd Street (Indirect access to US 1/US 301). This is followed by an exit for 7th Street, before going through a tunnel under Kanawha Plaza and US 60 (9th Street).

After coming up from the tunnel, VA-195 has a partial exit for Canal Street, before turning into a double-level viaduct as it rises over US 360 and shortly after, the route reaches its eastern end at an interchange with I-95 at the north end of the James River Bridge.

My Experiences:

I have never been on VA-195. However, I have passed its eastern end at I-95 multiple times, and have come close to the western end at the "triangle" with I-195/VA-76/-146 twice.
