Welcome to the 8th Hunty Roads Monthly Blog Post. The future of the website/blog has never looked better as I have been coming up with ideas to expand the name out further.
Before I get into the main topics of this Blog Post, I will say that I've been sending all of my thoughts and prayers to the people in Western North Carolina, Eastern Tennessee, Georgia, Florida and anybody else that is/was affected by Hurricane Helene.
Unfortunately, I did not make any accompanying Route Posts for this version of the Blog. However, I do plan on making plenty of Route Posts and Pages over the course of October. Here's a starting fun fact; the first portion of this Blog Post that I made was typed in Cape Charles, during my September 20-22 weekend vacation to the town. The rest was typed on the final day of the month.
September Travels:
September was a decent month for my traveling. I went on two road trips during the month; to and from Cape Charles on the 20th and 22nd, respectively. Those two trips made up a majority of my road pictures this month, and almost all of my travels.
I took my first picture of the month on the first day, on US 33 West approaching its Stanardsville business route. On the 7th, I would add Albemarle County & Charlottesville to my monthly county map, and 4 days later, I would take my next 2 road pictures at the US 29/SR-643 intersection north of Charlottesville.

My next road pictures wouldn't come until the 20th, which was the date of my Trip to Cape Charles. I would take 406 pictures on the trip part of the day, which includes the way to the hotel, and an evening mini-trip to the town itself. During that evening trip, I got all of VA-184 east of Tazewell Street, and decided to use my legs to jog-clinch the rest of the route. I spent the rest of that evening on the Cape Charles Pier, taking some of the best sunset photos in my life.

The next day, I went back up into the town to spend the afternoon on the beach. I took some road pictures that day, including more sunset pictures for the last night of Summer with the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel in the view. For the 22nd (first day of Autumn), I went back home, taking 496 road pictures, and taking a little detour on VA-30 and VA-33 in James City/New Kent County.
An amazing sunset for September 20th. |

The rest of the month would be a major cool-off, as I only took 4 road pictures in this part of the month.
September Posts/Pages:
On last month's Blog Post, I said "I will confirm that there will be more stuff listed in the "September Posts & Pages" part." That confirmation is true this time, though in terms of word count.
This month has been a busy one yet again for me personally, so I haven't been able to publish many Posts/Pages. On the positive side, I got two long-delayed Route Posts published in time for last month's Blog Post, and got two more posts in for the NC Site for the 4th month in a row, which this streak will break for October as I intend to publish at least 3 for NC.
One of those posts is for (mostly Future) I-42, which is my first future-Route Post, and will be updated as more parts get signed. I also started another Route Post with this style which will be published to this site sometime in October.
Anyways, here are the September Posts/Pages:
Travel Guides:
This has been a thought of mine for months; "What if I made brochures/guides for Hunty Roads?". Well, on September 13th and 14th, I created a rough draft for what I would intend on being my first Travel Guide. The route I did this for is quite obvious if you know me, and I won't hint further as I practically just revealed it.
I'll probably purchase a couple printed copies of this rough draft in the next 3 weeks, just to see what it would look like in my hands and as a real book/guide/brochure. After that, I'll go and take a few pictures to replace the ones I have on my rough draft.
On these Travel Guides, I'll have entries for places along or near the route the guide serves (Interstates/US Routes/Primary Routes), with pictures for at least one for each page. (depending on if I want to expand it to a legitimate book size). Before the places sections, I'll have a very condensed version of "The Route Path" that exists on Route Posts here, with a map of the route, counties, and places mentioned in the guide, along with honorable mentions to numerous other cool places on the route.
A good time-frame for the first couple Travel Guides to actually release to the public would be actually quite a while, likely around February-March 2025. So, don't get your hopes too high yet like I have been for my first confirmed trip for next Spring, and also, this can still be cancelled (like many of my trips).

Y'all should most likely know the drill by now, this time the chances are changing drastically as Summer has officially turned into Autumn, and new trip ideas have came up and old ones have fallen.

Next Post:
Normally in this section, I'm exaggerating the future of the site and the next Blog Post. Well, I don't actually expect crazy amounts of Posts/Pages over the course of October. Of course, there will be more than September. I do have 4 Road Trip anniversaries coming up, as well as one more** that came on September 27th. Expect at least 2 of those to make it to the Road Trips page.
I do have my first (two) Road Trip announcements for the month; On the 11th, I will more than likely be going on a trip to the Lynchburg/Bedford County Area for that weekend (85% according to my Road Trip %), coming back on the 13th. However, I will most likely NOT be taking any road pictures on the weekend. I will be keeping track of my routing though, and likely be taking some pictures at the location I shall be going to. So, expect a detailed version of this trip to appear on the "October Travels" part of the next post, and "Lynchburg, VA ---- 85%" at (or near, if I go on more trips after) the bottom of the "already taken trips" part of my Monthly Road Trip % section.
Finally, I will be continuing the "Fun Fact" trend to end of these Blog Posts; VA-30 is one of, if not the only Primary Routes in Virginia to be signed as both North-South (South of West Point) and East-West (North of West Point).
